Stopped by The Gas Lamp Hotel during Philly First Fridays. The front area of the hotel is set up almost like a small pop up gallery during the event, which is a fun use of the space. It was absolutely packed when we went. Every gallery on First Friday tends to have its own style and the artists they feature reflect that. This one leaned more toward pop art. Bright colors, bold graphics, and pieces that mix humor with commentary. Some of the works had pretty sharp messages that feel very tied to the current cultural moment. Because it was so crowded, my friend and I didn’t stay too long. There were also quite a few tables with leftover food and half finished beers sitting out that hadn’t been cleaned up yet, which made the space feel a little messy. It might just be because the turnout was bigger than expected. Still, it was cool to see the hotel participate and turn the space into a gallery for the night. Worth popping into if you’re already doing the First Friday rounds.

We stayed in the Latimer suite for a night and it was clean, tastefully appointed and the hotel is in charming location in Old City. Something does need to be done about the heating in the room because it was dreadfully cold even with the thermostat turned all the way up. We appreciated the space heater but it was difficult to heat the whole room and we had to carry it to the bathroom it was so cold! The shower pressure was also lower than you would've hoped in a "boutique" hotel offering. We also would have appreciated some information about how to turn the TV on; it wasn't intuitive.

Perfect location and easy parking!! We nestled in to this absolutely stunning boutique with a city vibe yet old world charm!! Walking distance to shop, museums,Betsy Ross house and the awesome philly restaurants and cafes!.. just what we were looking for versus a hustle and bustle hotel with tons of people. I saw an event being held, and the grounds are beautiful and spacious ..Definitely going to keep this place in mind for holiday parties and when family comes into town! Dont sleep on this place, run and book now!! We plan on coming back and checking out the room with the bath tub! It was booked but we loved our room so much we rushed back from our outing just to relax!!

The gas lamp hotel excelled on so many levels. My teenage children and I stayed in the Edison suite and everyone loved the aesthetic. It was clean and every comfort thought of for a perfect stay. We loved its location in old city where we walked to many historical sites, some of which were on our block. This area of the city has things to do, but I liked that it was also a quiet neighborhood. The living room allowed us to congregate as a family and play board games or talk over a home cooked meal which we wouldn’t have gotten at a hotel. Fantastic memories and would definitely visit again.

I really have nothing negative to say! Gas Lamp was a perfect space for our family to relax, then walk all over Philly, then relax again and get carryout or prep food, and all have space to ourselves (we stayed in the Edison suite). It was the absolute perfect balance of short term rental-type accommodations with the hotel service. The beds were comfy (my kids loved the bunk bed), towels were fluffy, and I really appreciated the little things like the frame TV and the Nespresso coffee (soooo much better than Keurig). Would 100% stay again.

The rooms and decor throughout are beautiful, and you definitely have everything you need provided for a great stay, and it feels luxurious and glamorous. It’s a beautiful historic building in the old city and super convenient for sightseeing. We had a road facing room which was a bit noisy but not too bad. We personally found the self check in quite stressful - we needed to request several new codes as the ones we were given didn’t work. But the fast and helpful exchange of emails was reassuring and we were in within 30 mins, and there were no further code issues.

What an amazing place! The Gas Lamp has so much character! Our group of 6 (4 adults, 2 kids) just stayed in the Edison Suite and absolutely loved it. The decor was gorgeous, we all had space to ourselves, amazing to have a kitchen. The location can't be beat - walking distance to so many highlight spots, restaurants, coffee shops, beer gardens, etc. etc. The staff was so helpful and quick to respond if I had questions. 10/10 recommend and can't wait to come back
