I stayed three nights at Evermore Guesthouse, and the stay was completely delightful!!! The house was beautiful, clean, and incredibly well kept. The breakfast offerings were excellent and fresh. I could not have been more pleased with the accommodations.
The house is gorgeous and our room (Hawthorn) was lovely and spacious, with a reasonably comfortable bed and a quiet and unobtrusive mini split heat pump. The parking lot is very convenient. Unfortunately, the place is right on a busy street, so we got very little sleep. Also they expect you to hand wash your breakfast dishes, which seems both rude and unsanitary (I think they have gone too far in reducing staff). The breakfast was disappointing: refrigerated pastries and overly sweetened breakfast cereal. The tall clawfoot tub was charming, but a challenge go get in and out of. The pillows were far too thick for us (there were 4 pillows, but all the same, a wasted opportunity to offer options). Kudos for offering a top sheet and blanket as an alternative to the comforter, and for not having TVs in the room.
I was hesitant to stay in this style of lodging. Was it going to be noisy? How loud will traffic be in the middle of the night? We stayed in the St John's Suite on the 3rd floor. It was huge and beautiful. It was way quieter than I expected both night and day. There were always snacks available. I missed where the complimentary baked goods were until after we went out to eat. They were in the kitchen immediately to the bottom right. They have thought of everything, they had toothbrush and paste, ear plugs and a night light if you wanted one for your bathroom. We have a low clearance car, so exiting on the side street got our bumper a little, so go slow. A large vehicle may have a tight squeeze exiting and entering, but it will work. The bed was great and USB ports at the night stand. There are no TVs in the house which keeps it quiet. There is a narrow spiral staircase between the 2nd and 3rd floor, so bulky luggage may be tricky. I love how they didn't lock any closets so you could peek at the architecture. Fridge was a decent size, but a tiny freezer. Complimentary robes in the closet with luggage racks. Stairs are vintage squeaky, so I cant give feedback on the volume from the 2nd floor. We used the spiral staircase from the 1st and it seemed quieter and was fun. Can't wait to stay here again!
This guesthouse is a real find! Quiet and comfortable, convenient and stocked with healthy snacks. The bed was very, very comfortable. |The neighborhood was fun to walk around. The building is one of those charming Portland turn-of-the-last-century houses that you see everywhere and wish you could go into for a look around. The inside was even lovelier than the outside, with beautiful stained glass and woodwork.
So convenient. The customer support was excellent both before and after my stay. I stayed for a business trip, so had to request a couple logistics things ahead of time, and then I forgot an item upon check out. It was honestly the best experience I've had for a long time. Comfy bed and the facility was quieter than expected given it's an old converted house. Common areas were nice to get computer work done and socializing with my coworker. The area is walkable and provided many retail opportunities. Would recommend to friends and happily stay again.
From my reservation through to following up for some receipt details, the staff was very helpful, friendly and professional. Check-in was a sort of self check-in situation with keypad and the breakfast offered a nice sampling of simple options from fig bars and fruit to oatmeal, coffee and cereal. I didn't interact much with other guests staying there, but if I wanted to there were a number of shared spaces I had access to. The vibe of the place was pretty cool/vintage and the price reasonable. I would definitely stay here again!
This is the most convenient place to stay when I come visit my son in PDX. The self-service breakfast is great. The rooms are in need of some updating, and the pillows esp are not to my liking. All the rooms I've tried have claw foot tubs which require some agility. It's a comfortable place, i just bring my own pillow now. Wish the windows could open in the room i recently had, even with the heat turned down to 66 degrees it was very stuffy.
