KEX Portland

This is my new go-to place in Portland. First, the lobby bar is such a cool space. I've been in the hotel a few nights and anytime I don't have anywhere else to be, I've loved hanging out in that lobby. Second, the rooms. I had a small queen room, then a king room (thanks Christian for the upgrade suggestion). The vibe is very rustic-comfy and the spaces were all super comfortable. Thanks also to Tim who checked me in on my first day and who (along with Christian) provided good suggestions on how to spend my time.

I haven’t always had the best experiences in Portland but this last stay was fantastic! The rooms and hospitality here are A+++. The front desk team of Tim, Christian, and Jay, made this visit super easy and were so helpful after forgetting some items and just overall great guys. I would 100% come back to the Kex Hostel.

Stayed here once and had a decent experience. Decided to book it again. ||When I showed up for my reservation, I was told that I was banned because I smoked in the room. The thing is… I don’t smoke cigarettes. I did not smoke in the room. Something crooked is going on here and I was charged for the reservation I didn’t get to use and I also got hit with a $150 charge. This was like $600. ||I will be taking legal action and making sure they feel the sting for scamming me and screwing up my birthday trip. ||I would advise not staying here as there is something off and crooked here.

I stayed at the Kex for 4 nights last weekend while attending a training session across the street. The hotel is really sweet and cozy, with vintage decor details throughout. But I am writing this review to give a shout-out to Tim, who went above and beyond to help me during my stay. When I arrived at the Kex, I was greeted by Tim and his huge, infectious smile. When I popped back down to the front desk moments after checking into my room, he creatively helped me change my room reservation on the fully booked Valentine's Day weekend so I could have a little more space. An hour later, he was attempting to help me find a charging cord for my phone that I had left at home. The next afternoon, he greeted me again at the front desk, asked if I needed anything, and asked about my day. I loved Tim's humor and kindness, and I was touched by his focus on making sure I had what I needed during my stay with heart. Thank you, Tim! ♥️

Such a cool hotel/hostel! The room was so cool, the location was great, and the staff there were so nice. The restaurant was super tasty, and one drink had me feeling good. The miso albacore was delicious. Cozy room, cool views, awesome spot. I look forward to coming back!

I have not stayed in this hotel, but I frequent their bar! The bartenders were SO nice and made great drinks 🙂 The food was incredible! I am really critical about Salmon, and they had some of the best salmon I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The skin was perfectly crispy and the salmon was so flaky and perfectly seasoned. I brought home a chicken sandwich for my partner, which they thoroughly enjoyed. I’ve also been to their rooftop bar, which was also serving up delicious cocktails, and is wonderfully decorated!
