Hotel Rose - A Staypineapple Hotel

Joanne at the front desk made us feel so welcome. She was warm, professional, and had a great sense of humor! All the staff were great, but she is a stand out. The place is kitschy retro, has small but well appointed rooms, and has the most comfortable beds! Sweet touches like water bottles and well stocked coffee/tea supplies, plenty of towels, and bathrobes made out stay very comfortable. And the downtown location was perfect!

Great Stay- Awesome Staff! Just stayed at Hotel Rose in Portland and had a really good time. Right when I got there, everyone was super welcoming and answered all my questions, which was great. The room was clean and nice, no complaints there. They have a gym which I used pretty much every day. Only thing I’d change is maybe adding a cable machine with a pull-up attachment, but honestly it’s still good and got the job done. I really liked that they have a bar right in the hotel. The bartender Rea (hope I’m spelling that right!) was super attentive and made me feel welcome every time I stopped by. The hotel also provided me with a free water bottle and refillable station at the front which literally saved me every time. I’m always thirsty. Julie, one of the hosts, was also really welcoming and gave me tons of great recommendations for things to do around the area. But I have to give a huge shoutout to Sonia, she was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She helped me with everything I needed and always had spot-on recommendations for places she thought I’d like. She even went out of her way to make sure I was well taken care of. Seriously, she’s the best and made my whole stay even better. All in all, I really enjoyed my time at Hotel Rose and I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Portland!

Positive: Great location close to restaurants and easy pick up. Comfy bed, and clean room. the front desk extremely friendly, helpful, and professional. Negative: The $24.95 "resort fee" that gets added regardless of usage. For one night, these items did not add value for us: wifi (should be free), comp lounge drink, fitness center, extra coffee, bike rental, comp water bottle. I suggest making this opt-in.

I am blown away.. New Year’s Day. My car window got broken (not in their parking garage mind you) and the maintenance guy Rafael plus one other gentleman took time to vacuum my glass and make sure it was safe to drive. With the biggest smiles. The rooms at this hotel are very comfortable. And clean. The staff made this stay amazing. Turning a not so great start to my new year, amazing and with kindness you just don’t see anymore. So thank you for a safe and clean stay. Also the coffee……… *chefs kiss*

It's a uniquely styled hotel. I enjoyed it. Super comfy with very good service and clean rooms. I will come back. Did I mention the delicious coffee too?

The beds don't have sheets. Everything is very old and shabby. The front desk was not helpful at all. None of the amenities that were advertised were available. The restaurant was closed. They charged $50 for my dog and didn't do any of the things that are supposed to come with that charge. This was the biggest disappointment I have experienced in Portland. The price was way too high for a motel 6 quality.

Hotel Rose is WONDERFUL - sorta... I've stayed there several times over the last few months. Each time was great! It IS a 3-star hotel, so not luxury, but they do well with great beds, fluffy, comfortable comforters, and each time I enjoyed the views of the river walk and downtown Portland... Also, every time I've stayed there, until the last visit, the people are WONDERFUL! On Feb 14, 2026, I had a room reserved and check-in time is clearly posted as 4 pm. Normally (all previous times) I had checked in a bit earlier with no problems. This time - holiday, understandable if an early check-in could not happen... and then, 4 pm rolled past. Then 5 pm... Then, SIX PM! TWO hours late? And then, even though the desk operator (male) told me he would come find me as soon as my room was ready - nope. I had to find out that at 6:15, my room was ready, because I visited the front desk again! (as late as 6 pm, the last time I checked, he told me he would come find me...) The problem was clear, there was a significant impact upon our plans for the evening... and 'free parking overnight' was the only concession they offered. I would like to point out, however, that the nice lady who works in the bar and serves food and drinks, alone, is WONDERFUL! She's always friendly, obviously has nothing to do with the front desk or hotel management, and was simply amazing! She empathized and cared and attempted everything in her power to help us feel comfortable and welcome during out extended stay in the bar area (3 pm - 6:15 pm) that afternoon and evening! She ROCKS! Before I wrote this review, I attempted to contact the hotel to ask: "Is there anything you can do to convince me to come stay there again?" -but alas... the front desk was not able to connect me with the manager because she was busy. (according to the person that answered the phone) Sure, it was a holiday, and sure, they were crowded... and EVERY time I asked: "Is this normal for a holiday weekend?" the employees all said: "Yes." -sadly. So - management, if this is SO predictable, maybe work a bit harder to make the impact of ' at the limits' business less horrible for your clients? I love the location, appreciate the relative price for this location, but I will be seeking another accommodation for future stays. 🙁
