Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel

Had a wonderful time at the hotel! We went to celebrate my partner's birthday, and they went out of their way to make her feel special. Was a fantastic spot for our first time in Portland, would definitely go back.

Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel on Portland Waterfront is awesome. Tonight I had a dining experience in my room (that has a wood burning fireplace, I might add) that reminded me why I love great service. Dealing with a severe wine allergy can often make fine dining a bit of a challenge, but the Chef here handled it with total precision. When a chef can prioritize guest safety without compromising on "perfect" flavor, they’ve earned a customer for life. Well done.

Positive: Location. Friendliness of staff. Quality of amenities. Negative: It’s NOT the fault of the hotel, but in the year 2025 this location in Portland OR has gone downhill. Guests wake early to strange homeless people shuffling around the grounds.…and again.….no fault of the hotel, the the guests next door kept smoking weed.

Absolutely perfect. This was exactly what we wanted and needed. We just unexpectedly had to put our pet of 15 years to sleep over the weekend and were in town to elope in the forest, so needless to say, we were riding quite an emotional roller-coaster. We booked the king suite with the river view and fireplace, which gave us the PERFECT soft and warm place to land and rest after everything. The rooms were clean, the facilities were wonderful, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and when they found out we had just married, they were sweet enough to leave a charcuterie plate and bottle of champagne for us in the room. Even without it, they would have gotten 5 stars from us, but that was an incredibly thoughtful touch that put it over the edge. Thanks so much for giving us exactly what we needed. We'll definitely be back...

Great location and lovely quaint hotel. Rooms were well appointed and staff was great. Sariha at the front desk was efficient and so professional. Tyler in the restaurant was attentive to issues with allergies and the food was great. Cannot beat it for a weekend stay DT or for family who you want to have a nice place to stay that highlights the best of Portland.

We loved our stay at Kimpton River Place. Our upgraded suite was spacious and very comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and always willing to help. The evening cocktails were delicious and as an IHG Diamond member they had one of the best breakfasts/brunches that ends late (great for us late risers on vacation). Our fur baby, Boomer, had a wonderful time there as it's right by grassy parks and the water. He wants to thank Matt at the front desk for all the belly rubs!

Since this was an old hotel, I was a bit skeptical at first that the actual room and hotel would be missing details here and there, with uncleaned spots making it overall feels like an 2-3 stars hotel. I'm glad it wasn't the case. The hotel was cozy, well maintained and clean. They were willing to accommodate my request and make it as smooth as possible throughout the stay. Also, small savings isn't a big deal but the gestures really does enhance the overall experience. My feedback would be making sure the tissue box is enough for at least a night stay (or have spared ones), I could call for more but was lazy and wasn't a big inconvenience.
