Lucky D's Hostel San Diego

The location is Prime. The staff was so awesome I think I made some new lifelong friends. The accommodations was well above what I would expect for the price. Honestly I would have stayed longer had I not reached the 14 day max stay. Thanks again everyone at Lucky D’s.

This is my second time staying here, and I love it! Friendly guests. Awesome staff. Perfect location. Available kitchen (with free breakfast)! It's a hostel, what do you expect. Make sure to bring your own pad lock for the lockers in the rooms and your own towel for the showers, to save a few bucks.

Excellent Downtown Location with Outstanding Hospitality Stayed here for a week and couldn’t have been happier with the choice. The hotel’s location is perfect—walking distance to all major transportation options in downtown, making it incredibly easy to explore the city. The complimentary breakfast was a highlight of each morning—healthy options, well-prepared, and exactly what I needed to start the day right. The staff truly made the stay memorable with their warm hospitality and friendly demeanor. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable visit. Highly recommend for anyone looking for convenience, quality, and genuine care. Will definitely return!

Great location and friendly staff, inconvenience with parking on Padre’s game night & the shower water was cold.

One of the best hostels I’ve been to! Vibrant environment, quiet in the night, good staffs, convenient location, clean bathrooms… The only problem I noticed was that they don’t provide shampoo or soap in the shower? I used the one bottle of shampoo that might be left there by someone. The place does feel pretty old but it’s a vibe. And it’s in general clean enough.

Pleasant stay, good cleaning all over the place and a nice breakfast included. All bed sheets are washed upon your checkout, which gives me confidence they were washed before I used them. Special thanks to the staff members for their hospitality

PLACE/ROOM We stayed in a 4-bed room as two people. The room itself wasn’t impressive, but it was functional and had a window you could actually open, rare around here and definitely appreciated. CLEANLINESS Very clean for hostel standards. Toilets, shared spaces, and rooms were well maintained. PRICE/VALUE for MONEY Around $90–100. Overall, it’s a 4.5-star place in terms of value, but I’d round it up to 5 to support the place. SERVICE AND ATTITUDE Young people staying at the hostel were likely helping with cleaning in exchange for accommodation, a nice win-win situation. LOCATION Not bad, not perfect but easy to find. OTHER NOTES Nicely decorated for a hostel. The breakfast was decent, and shared kitchens had designated storage space and fridges for everyone. The common area had a social atmosphere with young travelers hanging out. Check-in available until 2 AM. OVERALL IMPRESSION Far above average for a hostel, thoughtful design, sociable environment, and solid amenities. CHANCE OF RETURNING 80%
