The Guild Hotel is one of those places that quietly nails it without trying too hard. Set in a beautifully restored historic building, it blends old-world character with clean, modern touches. Location-wise, it’s hard to beat. You’re steps from Little Italy, a short walk to the waterfront, and close enough to Gaslamp and downtown without being stuck in the noise. Whether you’re in San Diego for food, nightlife, or just walking the city, the hotel puts you right where you want to be. Service is another strong point. Staff are friendly, relaxed, and genuinely helpful, which fits the overall vibe of the hotel. Overall, the Guild Hotel is perfect if you’re looking for a boutique stay that feels refined, comfortable, and authentically San Diego. It’s ideal for couples, solo travelers, or anyone who values design, walkability, and a more intimate hotel experience.

My husband and I just stayed here during our honeymoon. The rooms are super clean and refreshed daily, and are also modern with luxury touches (such as Kohler fixtures, which remind me of their spas, and amazingly scented shampoo/body wash/etc). We stayed in a cozy room that had a lovely view of the courtyard below. Staff members were all extremely kind, positive, and helpful. The location is also exceptional—short distances to activities including the zoo and whale watching. Although the hotel itself has no parking, there is a garage right around the corner that was very open, so it was convenient. We will definitely stay here again when back in San Diego. Thank you!

Overall, a pleasant stay. Quiet, clean and comfortable. Check in was very smooth and it’s clear the management cares deeply about the experience. Just a few suggestions: it’s hard to come and go with a stroller and bags, given the stairs at the entrance. It would be nice to have a ramp or sort, or a separate entrance with access to the elevator. The breakfast served is very basic with limited seating (I get it this was the case cause of rain), I think for the price paid, at least the coffee could be a bit better (having great coffee would also tie the upscale experience with fancy soaps and all).

The hotel is stylish and well located, and the space feels thoughtfully designed. That said, the rooms were smaller than expected, which is worth noting if you’re someone who values extra space. Another disappointment was the continental breakfast that was advertised at booking but not actually provided or meaningfully fulfilled during my stay. If breakfast is no longer offered, that should be communicated clearly upfront. When an amenity is promised, guests reasonably expect it to be honored. Obviously they’re just looking to scam guests, as they’ve received the feedback on their false promises for several months, but don’t actually make corrections.

Check in was smooth, rooms could be bigger and funky layout (felt like hongkong size) but overall clean. Everyone was super nice:) location is perfect and honestly overall great stay. The food surprised us how good it was. Parking tip: download spothero, pick the parking lot near the hotel, in/out access only 35 bucks whole 3 days (rates differ time of day you book) but better than 60 dollar valet per day

It’s a beautiful hotel with trendy decor and simple amenities. However, for the price and rating it should really have a fridge, coffee maker, iron, etc. There is also no real closet or dresser, just a small hanging rack. Water cups and ice bin are not replaced everyday so i had to wash them with hand soap in the sink. The courtyard is also gorgeous, but fairly difficult to relax in because there is always multiple employees loudly chatting and rearranging furniture for events during the afternoon. I also noticed lots of them working on laptops in the lounge and restaurant area and courtyard. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I would expect more professionalism from true luxury hotels.

The hotel is really beautiful and the staff are very kind and helpful. The front desk associates, the valet, the bartenders-- all very nice. Room was very large and well-decorated. My only complaint was that the room was dusty. There was a thick layer of dust on the lamps next to the bed. If you are sensitive to dust like I am, be aware of that. There is also a strong perfume-like smell when you first enter the room so be aware of that as well if you are sensitive to fragrance. But everything else was beautiful. The courtyard was a lovely place to have breakfast.
