The hotel is practically brand new, the facilities are beautifully decorated, everything fits the concept of beach, relaxation, and the good life. The room we were assigned had great size and we loved the decor. The valet service is friendly and attentive. The location is exceptional, close to most tourist attractions, surrounded by restaurants and bars. What I didn't like: the towels they left for us on the day we arrived were trampled. We mentioned it at reception and they asked us to send an email. We used the sofa bed, but I don't know why they decided not to make it up when cleaning the room, only the bed. And lastly and most important, the reception staff is not friendly at all. We had to ask several questions about the hotel and they answered us with as few words as possible. The next day there was a different person and I asked what the happy hour at the bar consisted of (which they advertise on the reception slides), and they told me they had no idea… I don't understand how they work there with such a zero customer service attitude.
Had a fantastic stay for a week conference. Kamal and Josh at valet parking were wonderful to me. I had to leave every day to my conference. They were amazing ensuring I always have my car promptly and be at my meetings on time. The room was very spacious, clean and cute with the whole Margaritavill/Jimmy Buffet theme. Looking forward to come back for my next stay.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and really enjoyed our time there. Everything was very clean, the rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, and the rooftop pool was excellent — especially since it was heated. Valet parking is quite expensive at $60 per night, but it’s the best option and feels very safe. A special shout-out to Kamal, who works with the valet parking. He was extremely helpful and friendly, we had great conversations with him, and he gave us many great tips about the area. If you need recommendations, just ask Kamal! One small downside was that drinks at the rooftop bar were only served in plastic cups due to the pool area, which wasn’t ideal. We were traveling as a group of three (two adults and one toddler), and unfortunately there was no baby crib available to borrow. It’s also highly recommended to always make reservations in advance for all restaurants, both within the hotel and outside of it. Overall, everything else was excellent. Thank you for a great stay — we would definitely come back again!
Our family is having a blast here at Margaritaville Hotel San Diego! The decor throughout is fun and lively. Our room is spacious with a beautiful view. The night time entertainment at Fins was top notch (Jonny Tarr). What really was the icing on the cake was Kamal on the car Valet team. He has been so courteous and kind and has given us some fantastic suggestions for sight seeing and restaurants. Every time we see him he remembers our name and asks how are day is going and what our plans are. We definitely have been spoiled staying here. ~Til next time
The hotel only has valet parking for $65 a day/night. You have in and out privileges all day though. I believe until 9pm and then you have to pay for the next day automatically for valet but double check this. There’s a $35 resort fee each night and $200 deposit required at check-in. There's an option to park around the corner for way less though like $25 a day. It can be hard to get parking at these "ACE" public parking lots especially on the weekend. You can only park your car for a max of 10 hours too. I just remembered to pay for parking via the app though. This hotel is in a prime location where you can walk to the bars and restaurants. The hotel reminds me of spring break and vacation. It’s cute and in a good area. The $65 a night valet parking was a bit too much IMHO. I would probably not stay here again for that alone but also the walk around the corner is not far at all. There were four free water bottles available by the coffee machine in your room. There was also water available by the elevator before you go up but it was empty by nighttime. So, if you are planning on going out, please bring enough water back to your room before. There was a mini fridge in the dresser. I really liked that they had this. There's no jacuzzi but the pool is heated.
The facility doesn't have anything special other than bar and restaurant to be different from other motels but they charge resort fee of 35 per day, regular motels have gym and pool they charge no fees to use it. I booked this hotel for 5 days first day it was good service and from next day we got cheap water, no bathroom shower towels, bedsheet was not done correctly and shower don't even have enough amount of water force. I would never stay here or recommend to anyone. They just consider their customers a money making machine.
I wanted to try Amex Travel for the first time, so I booked this place through them. The online reviews were quite good, which is why I came to check it out, but my personal experience was far inferior to that of major chain hotels. Condition: The decor is very modern, but some areas of the room had peeling paint/wallpaper, which was a bit gross. The area around the bathtub was especially disgusting and had cracks. Amex claims that bookings through them often include an upgrade based on room availability, but this is clearly a scam/deception. On a Monday, the hotel was practically empty, yet they gave me one of the worst room types—the window faced a wall, meaning I saw almost no sunlight 24 hours a day. Unsanitary Water: The filters for the welcome water and the drinking fountain in the gym were clearly expired, yet they still offered us this unsanitary water to drink. Privacy/TV System: Unlike chains like Marriott, their TV system (for services like YouTube) does not automatically clear your browsing history upon checkout! Be careful with your privacy! I could even see the account login details of the previous guest!!! Noise: Furthermore, the soundproofing was poor, and my room was right next to the utility/storage closet. The cleaning staff were constantly going in and out, making a lot of noise and completely failing to be quiet! It's also a 25-minute walk to the beach, and with the added resort fee, the total price wasn't cheap! Overall, I do not recommend it!
