I’m local and needed a place to stay while construction is going at my house. Very happy with this hotel. Their standard room is just about the most spacious I have ever had. Location is A+. There is also heated pool and hot tub. Free breakfast is sufficient. If you want something better, it’s very easy to go outside and find something more fancy. I really don’t know what to not like about this place. I saw some very harsh reviews, but my experience is polar opposite.
Hotel was easily accessible in town, parking was easy and plentiful. Check-in was easy front desk clerk was very kind and efficient. Rooms were clean bathrooms were nice and stocked. Breakfast in the morning was really good with a lot of options. Definitely worth the money , would stay here again if needed. Five stars.
I came into SFO in Dec 2025 for my company HQ Christmas Party. The Grand Hotel was in the perfect location. It had solid amenities. A shuttle or car service included, to/from SFO, would have pushed it from rating 4 to 5. The in house breakfast was good. No surprises, no disappointments. Coffee always available which is critical (lol). One thing I really like, you'll find in the elevator when you stay there.
My husband and I stayed in a villa room for 5 nights at Christmas. Our first room was not clean and the upholstery was very spotted. The heat did not work. We were moved after 1 night to another villa. Clean this time but still no heat. It takes a while to feel that the heat is not coming out of the vent. Did not want to move again because it is alot of packing. We hoped that the maintenance man could fix it. He tried and was very nice, but no heat. So, 5 nights without heat. Also, pool jaccuzzi was not working. Breakfast was no longer a wonderful cooked to order affair. We have stayed multiple times at the Grand and loved it....but not this time. Staff is friendly as always, but the property needs help. I asked for a discount and have not heard back from the manager.
Update: I have been calling for a week trying to get in touch with a manager. I can never get ahold of anyone. I'm not sure who Claudio is that responded to my review here, but I have received no communication from a manager. This is absolutely ridiculous.DO NOT STAY HERE! I booked a room for the day before Thanksgiving, and checked out Thanksgiving morning. We have stayed here a few times before with great results. The continental breakfast was great, room was great, etc. This time we stayed was extremely disappointing. We checked in and noticed we were assigned the same room we stayed in during our last stay at this hotel. My husband noticed a crack in the wall that he had previously noted at our last stay ( a few years ago), he also noticed under the balcony blinds looked dirty, so he went over to investigate and it was stained. We checked in about 7 or 8pm. Toilet worked fine. At midnight I used the toilet, and noticed the toilet would not flush. My husband came in, tried to fix it, but to no avail. I called the front desk who said there was no maintenance who could come to check out the toilet, maybe tomorrow they could. I let him know that we would be leaving the following morning. He checked for another room and offered to switch rooms. One option was upstairs, and the other option was a few buildings over. It was midnight, my two children (2 and 9) were already asleep. And it would have been a huge hassle to move everyone to another room. I decided to pass on the room change and said we would just leave right after breakfast the following morning. The next morning we all get up pack everything up ( again the toilet will not flush) and head to breakfast. The eggs were discolored. The only meat they had was hot links. And they only had a few croissants and muffins out. The breakfast was very disappointing. When checking out I mentioned to the front desk my issue with the toilet and she said she would have the manager call me and help solve this. I also mentioned my concern with the eggs, and she said they had been there since 630am ( it was about 9am) and so they were overheated. She offered to have someone make fresh eggs, but again I just wanted to get home. I called again on Saturday morning to try and speak to a manager and was told I would be called back at 3pm. I have not received any callback. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
I stayed at this hotel due to a last-minute decision and strongly regret it. The ratings are very misleading, property is listed as a four-star hotel, yet the condition tells a very different story. The elevator and hallways show visible neglect the moment you enter. The room was muggy and had a very strong, unpleasant odor. During our stay it rained, and water leaked into the room through the windows, soaking the carpet. This was clearly a building issue. Despite this, the hotel falsely blamed us and charged for the damage. This experience reflects poor maintenance and worse accountability. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and notified my bank regarding the disputed charge. I strongly recommend families and travelers avoid this hotel if possible. The risk of poor conditions and unfair charges is not worth it. Update on 1/5: Hello Claudio, Thank you for your response to my review. I am following up because I have not received any direct communication from the hotel since your reply, nor do I see the disputed charges reversed or adjusted. Given the false allegations raised during my stay, terrible situation of your hotel rooms ( room # 429) and your acknowledgement to my review, I would expect and appreciate an update towards resolving this issue.
Avoid like the plague. This hotel cannot seriously be a four-star hotel, it's three-star at best. I stayed in two rooms in this hotel, both were dingy and old, and one of them had literally broken mattress. The outside of the window was covered with grime. Cleaning staff takes dirty towels and don't replace them. And then the service which is horrible. On my first night I got locked out of the room because of a lock malfunction. The front office person simply suggested to put me in another room because there is nothing that they can do about it until the morning. While all of my luggage and stuff and clothes are locked inside the room, with me having nothing to change into or close for me to go to work in the next morning. After a long while asking them to be reasonable and to have some emergency maintenance so that I can get my stuff that are necessary for the morning, and 2 hours of being locked out and them trying things, they were able to break into the door, get me my stuff and move me to a new room. They promised some compensation but I never received it. Overall horrible experience. Really I would never go back to this place.
