Books with Pictures

I've been trying to get my pet monkey into manga. He's pretty well behaved, but staff were still super accommodating. I can't really tell if he liked it, but we'll be back!

Awesome friendly neighborhood comic book store. The nicest folk work there, the store is very well-curated and has a terrific selection. They also run a number of fun events through the year.

Over the years, in both the original location nearby, and in their current home, I've paid a variety of types of visits to Books With Pictures. I've been to fundraisers, author/artist signing events, come in to pick up special order items, and also just dropped in to browse. Neither my spouse nor I are artists or authors, but we know a number of people in Portland whose work can be found on the shelves here - it is truly a reflection of the city in which it is located. My latest visit was to pick up a special order item. The web site makes it very easy to make a request that is fully customized for each item, depending on whether it's in stock, available to order, or perhaps no longer available. This is a wonderful part of a city populated with readers, and with creators.

Super friendly and a great selection of recent back issues, at great prices! I found their X-Men section, complete with a handwritten guide to the Krakoa Era, really helpful.

Their BL/Yuri section is to die for. Wonderful store with a great manga section and really sweet workers. One of my faves & I hope they stay open forever!

A small and favorite spot of our family. Great for graphic novels! So many inclusive works, and a lovely reading nook for kiddos to have a quiet spot before picking something to take home. They also offer subscription boxes for monthly comics, but no discount on purchases with those. Staff are friendly and helpful with recommendations! We also love the illustrations done of staff (and Nick drew them)!

A great place to pick up graphic novels. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, too! Like me, they just love comics. Give great suggestions if you don’t know where to start, too!
