We took an evening tour with Capital Cruises and had a wonderful experience. The captain was very knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights about the Austin skyline, local birdlife, and the city overall. It’s an affordable and highly recommended activity for anyone visiting Austin.
Our bat tour was pretty great! Lots of weird Austin humor infused with information about the city and the bats. The bats came out in pattern B which was still pretty cool even though it wasn't the giant swarm we were hoping for. Overall we had a pretty good time.
We did the sunset bat tour and it was such a great way to see Austin! Relaxing way to end a busy sightseeing day on the river/lake/reservoir! Our tour guide Alec was awesome, very knowledgeable and quite funny. The tour was about an hour and they recommended grabbing drinks nearby before we launched. Great views of the city and so cool to get up close to the bat colony as they headed out of the bridge for the night. Great value!!
Captain Alec was awesome, and we had a great time on the water. We even saw some bats in early December, which was rare. He was determined to ensure we saw them, and as my first boat tour here since I moved to Austin a year ago, I really enjoy this ride!
Must do while in Austin. Great tour guides and well priced, thanks Carson and staff easy to sign up, good environment and nice to see Austin from the lake, historical sites and the beautiful Mexican bat refuge.
The spot took us to a hotel & the parking is pricey around here so we went nearby to 676 W Riverside Payparking. I didn’t see any signs to pay to park so we parked for free for under 2 hours but !!park at your own risk & check the rules for parking here. (We got lucky lol) It was a nice short walk to get to Capital Cruises. The worker there was friendly and he just had us fill out some paperwork before we started riding on the swan boat. It’s basic information like your name and your address contact information and your driver’s ID #. Make sure you or someone in the group has an ID. The Swan boat is a very calm ride. I think it goes up to 5MPH. it is very easy to turn it & move it. We got to see some turtles too. That was exciting! Great views of the City Skyline.
This was one of the coolest things to see. It was truly amazing, the amount of bats in one place. They seemed never-ending, coming out from under the bridge. Our guide/captain was very knowledgeable and funny. We had a great time.
