The location is excellent — easy to get around and close to everything we wanted to do — and our Prestige Corner Suite was fantastic. The room felt spacious, well-appointed, and made the stay feel just a little elevated. One thing that really stood out was the daily room servicing, which honestly feels like a rarity these days. It was appreciated and didn’t go unnoticed. Every staff member we encountered was extremely friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. We also enjoyed a meal at Topside Terrace Kitchen & Bar — tasty food, great service, and a wonderful view that made for a relaxing evening. Our only minor issue was the Club Lounge, which wasn’t stocked with snacks when we stopped in, though there was a decent supply of beverages available. All in all, it was a great stay, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit to San Diego.
I had a really great stay at the Hotel Republic recently. Right when I walked in, I was struck by how beautiful the lobby looked with all the holiday decorations and it felt super welcoming from the start. The front desk agent was great, too; they got me checked in quickly and even upgraded my room since I have Marriott Gold status which I’ve noticed some Marriott hotels recognize, and others not so much. The room itself was nice. The king bed was actually way bigger than I expected, and I even had a slight view of the water, which was a nice surprise. One random thing I loved: the hot water in the bathroom hit the perfect temperature almost instantly. The whole place was clean and just really well laid out. I also spent some time in the lobby for the complimentary wine and grabbed food there twice. Honestly, the food was surprisingly good and the portions were huge. The location is also perfect if you like Little Italy; it’s just a short walk away. The only tiny thing was the scent by the elevators—it smelled good, but it was just a little too strong. Aside from that, the staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. I’d definitely stay here again.
The stay started out great. Hotel is clean, centrally located, and polite staff. I was supposed to check out on October 4 but realized I needed an additional night. So I went to the reception desk and asked them to book another night. They informed me that I need to do it from Hotels.com. So while I was at the Reception area, I booked an extra night. Confirmed it was reserved and left. At no time did they inform me that my reservation had actually booked two rooms in error. They knew it was me and my daughter so we would not need two rooms? I was there the entire day on October 4th and left on October 5. At no time did any staff approach me and tell me there was an additional room booked and help me resolve the problem. Imagine my surprise when I received my bill and was charged for two rooms. I called and spoke to Kristina McElroy and requested they credit me the erroneous 2nd room. She informed me they could not as it was marked as a "NO SHOW". I was there and they were aware that this was an error, but kept refusing to correct and credit my account. I suggest that you carefully review your bill before you leave as their practice is deceitful and dishonest. Be careful.
My wife and I stayed overnight at the Hotel Republic this past weekend, and I have to say that it did not compare with what we've experienced at other Autograph hotels. We were told when we checked in that the member's lounge would not have a buffet during our stay, which honestly didn't bother us, but the lack of snacks, cold water, or any other kind of cold drinks was not expected. We went to the Gaslamp quarter for some lunch and afterwards, took a 4 mile walk around the city before returning to the hotel. When we returned, we went to the lounge and discovered that there was really nothing in there. There were no snacks of any kind, the water cooler was completely empty, and the drink cooler had a few sodas, but neither of them had power, so the drinks were warm anyway. I went to the desk and reported it, and was gifted 2 bottles of warm water. Honestly, the lounge looked like it was under some type of repair, but we were not notified of that when we checked in. Additionally, I know parking is always an issue, but $55 for overnight parking seems a bit high. On a more positive note, we did have some drinks at the bar in the lobby, and Patrick was awesome.
Me and my son stayed at Hotel Republic San Diego for his birthday and left with mixed feelings. We checked in after 12:00am and the welcome was honestly underwhelming. The hotel (bar/lounge area) itself is really nice which is what sold me. At first glance, our suite looked perfect and the room was very cozy. I love the little window where you could just sit and read, but once you stepped into the bathroom, it was a different story. There was visible mold seeping through the walls and shower area, which was pretty cringy for a suite at this price point. The tub (which we didn’t use) didn’t appear very clean either. The bathrooms are definitely in need of a serious renovation or refresh. On the bright side, the location is perfect and close to everything downtown. Valet parking was pricey ($65 per day), but they were efficient, had the car ready on time, and even made sure it was charged, so I’ll give valet 5 stars. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again. It might work for someone looking for a decent price in a convenient spot, but for me, the experience didn’t match the cost or expectations.
Not what I expect or am used to for an Autograph Collection. I’ve received better service and nicer rooms at Courtyard Marriotts. Also paid for a room that said it came with club-level access, but I did not receive club access. Would not recommend this hotel based on the many other Marriotts in San Diego.
If I could give no stars, I absolutely would. My boyfriend booked a room the day before Valentine's Day through Priceline,an amazing accomplishment considering how booked up everything was elsewhere, but everything Went through great and we were all set up to enjoy an evening downtown for Valentine's Day. We booked a restaurant in the general area so we didn't have to go too far considering how bad parking was, and everything seemed to be good, until it wasn't. When we first go there we waited for valet for about 3-5 minutes, but because the man was on his phone he never came to the car to greet us instead of making a big deal about it we decided to park across the street with public parking since it was about $10 cheaper and we could service ourselves. I paid $50 for 24 hr parking and then we grabbed our stuff and headed inside. Once my boyfriend gave his name the receptionist said she needed a minute and walked to the back. When she came back she was followed by a man who had a paper(the manager) and they proceeded to tell us they had a "glitch" in the system and they overbooked and could not accommodate us, but they had a partnering hotel who was willing to take us in since he didn't want us to be out of luck on Valentine's Day. Despite the fact we were upset that they didn't at least call before we came all the way down to San Diego(my boyfriends from LA and they clearly new they couldn't accommodate since the receptionist new to get the manager just off my boyfriends name) and the fact that I had just paid $50 for parking we were at least thankful we would have somewhere else to stay. However, he then told us the hotel we could stay at would be the Gaylord Pacific Resort. A hotel in a completely different city (Chula Vista) and about 20minutes from were are dinner was booked for downtown. Because we had Valentine's Day plans we took it on the chin and went down to the new hotel that was literally in the middle of nowhere and went to check in. Except when we got there the receptionist JoAna told us there was no reservation in our name and in-fact, when the hotel Republic had called in earlier to ask if they could take some of the parties overbooked, the Gaylord pacific told them no. Even though that happened, JoAna at the Gaylord Pacific fought for us to get accommodation and was able to help us get a room for the night in their beautiful hotel and we were so thankful! She even told us that there were multiple people after us who were also sent by the hotel republic without them contacting. When we complained though Priceline we were told that the hotel republic told Priceline that we never checked in to their hotel(a lie) and then when we went back in person to complain we were told bookings are not 100% guaranteed. I would never book at this hotel again ESPECIALLY around a holiday we're all of your plans rely on you being in downtown. Customer service is horrible there and they heavily lack accountability. Book at your own risk
