Nielsen's Grove Park

The BEST park in Orem. I’m a dog sitter and always take the dogs I watch here. A great walking path (about .6 mile loop all the way around) and very well kept area. I come here any season and love it. Bathrooms are closed during the fall and winter but in the summers they are clean and open! Great spot for walking, hammocking, and enjoying the beautiful views. There are ducks in the pond and lots of people there in the summer which makes it fun. Highly recommend for walking or hanging out! They also have lots of picnic tables or open areas for a picnic. Big park in Orem!

In August 2025, we visited Nielsen's Grove Park in Orem, Utah. Nielsen's Grove is near the Walmart, and between 2000 South and Sand Hill Road. This is a beautiful park with manicured gardens, fountains, historic buildings, and a duck pond. We had a work Summer picnic with our co-workers, and we enjoyed ribeye steaks, salmon, and many delicious side dishes. We had a highly enjoyable and memorable experience eating delicious food, interacting with our co-workers, and enjoying the beautiful Nielsen 's Grove scenery in beautiful Summer evening weather. What a great Summer Picnic experience.

Your Own Private Paradise What strikes you first about Nielsen’s Grove is the sense of space and tranquility. Unlike other crowded city parks where you’re fighting for shade or a decent picnic spot, this gem offers plenty of room to spread out and truly relax. The well-maintained grounds feel almost like having your own private park, especially during weekday visits when you might find yourself with acres of green space practically to yourself.

Not only is it the oldest park in Utah, it's also incredibly well thought out. From a flower garden with adoptable spots, to tree shade, a fountain, pavilions, and a trail. It's an absolutely beautiful spot with more than just a patch of grass (although it has that too!)

Filled with community events and lots of room for public and/or familial activities. The pond is great, the playground is well maintained and there’s a ton of parking. Bathrooms were clean, and open even after dark.

Nielsen’s Grove Park is one of my favorite parks in Orem. I’ve spent time here walking, relaxing, and attending events, and it always feels peaceful and well cared for. The trees and open space make it feel a little more scenic than other parks in the area. It’s a great place for casual outings, picnics, or just getting some fresh air. Parking is easy, and there’s plenty of room to spread out. It’s a simple but really enjoyable park to spend time in.
