San Marcos Lions Club Tube Rental

This was the highlight of our Texas trip! We spent half of a day there from about 1 to close. We made 2 trips down the river. We rented tubes and took the bus back to the starting point which was super convenient. We love seeing the wildlife, turtles, fish and the lush trees the whole way. Going down the 3 waterfalls was also super fun. Would go back in a heart beat

Fantastic experience. I’ve normally gone to New Braunfels to Tube but this has easily become my favorite. I’ll be coming back for sure. Lots of flexibility, not a ridiculous amount of restrictions, yet a wonderful experience still. The check in desk, tube pick up and return are run so smoothly! Great parking as well!

Tubing on the San Marcos River is a fun, relaxing experience perfect for hot Texas days. The water is crystal clear, spring-fed, and stays cool year-round. It’s a great way to unwind with friends or family while floating through scenic nature. The float is usually about 1–2 hours, depending on where you start. Several local outfitters offer tube rentals and shuttle services, making the whole process easy and convenient. Pros: • Clean, cool water • Relaxing and scenic float • Family-friendly and affordable Cons: • Can get crowded on weekends • Limited shade — bring sunscreen • Occasional debris or shallow spots Overall, it’s a must-try Texas summer activity!

Lots of fun. We accidentally parked at the end so we had to walk upstream a bit and float down. Water is a greenish-grey color and marshy near the end. Encountered a snake. We all survived.

We were really looking forward to a relaxing family weekend on the river, but unfortunately, our experience was absolutely terrible. From the moment we got into the water, we were surrounded by people smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol — and not just one or two groups. Nearly every group around us was openly smoking weed, and the smell was overwhelming. We tried to paddle away, but there was nowhere to go — the river was packed, and these groups tend to cluster together, making it impossible to escape the clouds of smoke. It felt more like a floating party zone than a family-friendly activity. This was extremely disappointing, especially because we were with our children. What’s supposed to be a peaceful float down a lazy river turned into a stressful attempt to avoid inhaling secondhand smoke. If you’re looking for a wholesome family experience — this is not the place.

This is a great Park located in San Marcos to take a stroll and enjoy the natural beauty of the river. You're able to see wild rice, which only grows in these parts, water is clear and spring fed. I've launched my kayak here and the current isn't crazy strong to where you can paddle out and back to exit from the same location.
