Erik's Retreat

The quietest place I’ve ever stayed in, and what a gift it was! Beautiful room with touches that made the experience feel very much like a high end hotel. Wonderfully comfortable bed, and great shower. Easy check-in and lovely building. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a quiet and restful night away.

This is a terrific place with a great location for independent travelers. It is like having your own efficiency apartment (but without a kitchen). I stayed here nearly a week and found it to be incredibly quiet, very clean, and well appointed including soft bathrobe, toiletries, Keurig, and mini-fridge. Bed and pillows are super comfy, shower is hot and strong. Very happy to support the individuals that this non-profit helps. You have to pay up front and all communication with staff is via email or phone, I didn't see or meet anyone in the building but I also didn't need or request the housekeeping service they provide. Only downside is that parking is about 1.5 blocks down the street in a shared lot. NBD if you're mobile. I will definitely stay here again.

Positive: Close to events we attended. More on what I didn’t like. I was promised a refund for one of the nights I stayed and never received is as of today. Negative: Yes, no staff available when needed. Needed a code to enter the hotel. Door not working properly so I couldn’t enter the hotel and no one to call to let me in. I sat outside for an hour waiting for someone to come to the door to let me in.

Very large comfortable rooms, clean, all the essentials plus fine cookies and brownies. Southdale mall a short walk away. It was once an assisted living facility - that’s why rooms are so large and have so much storage. Services provided by staff with cognitive disabilities (autism etc) with neurotypical backup. Some live here. Checkin and out is largely automated. Rates relatively low. I would stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

A truly lovely experience. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean. This is probably the quietest hotel I've ever stayed at. The hot water was fantastic, did not miss a beat with the hot showers in the morning or the evening. The building itself is beautiful and historic with so many great details and pieces of history and art. Will definitely stay here when visiting the area.

Don’t believe the reviews on line!!!! This place is deceiving!! The rooms are plain like an insane asylum! No color, no artwork on the walls, blood spots on the carpet, chocolate and food under the couch cushions, rooms smelled like must and old cigarettes. The toilet leaked& the ladies response was maybe a handy man will be by later or tomorrow ! no staff on site to help& lady ignored my daughters numerous calls.The front room to the right as you entered had a ceiling bulge of water leaking and smelled so awful of stale water and humidity! No repairs ! Just a 5 gallon bucket! It was seeping into the walls and the ceiling! Would never recommend!!!

The hotel itself was beautiful, the rooms are cozy and the hallways are comfy. There is amazing art in the staircase for a pleasant surprise. My only gripe was the coffee maker was not cleened out from the previous visiter and the parking is a bit weird.
