Residence Inn by Marriott Raleigh Downtown

Got to our room, the Keurig coffee machine wasn't working, TV and computer desk wasn't working electrically, toilet had blue liquid on the floor. One guy at the front desk was useless, Susan at the front desk was awesome. Corner suite was very nice. Flowers I ordered from a florist were in our room!! Breakfast was good typical hotel fare. Bar on the 10th floor was beautiful and very nice. Bartenders were great and attentive. There was both outdoor (with heaters) and indoor seating.

This place is run like a cheap motel. The only good thing about this place is the location and the bar/restaurant. |The guest services staff for the hotel are terrible. They could care less about your experience as a long-term guest or a Bonvoy status member. |Their beds are terribly uncomfortable, so I asked for a new mattress, they said they don't have any. I have begun using my comforter as a mattress pad to ease the discomfort. I asked staff if I could have a second comforter so I can have a comforter for it's intended use and they flat out said no. They also spoke to me as if my request for a second comforter is ridiculous. When you're staying in a hotel for 3 months you would think you would get a little more support from staff but that would require them to care about the guests experience. |The parking garage situation also sucks. You often get trapped in the traffic of the event parking on the lower level. |The dryers in the laundry room take 3+ hours to dry a single load of clothes due to how outdated the machines are. |TDLR: this place is fine for a few days but is not good for busy professionals on long-term work assignments. This whole experience has made me rethink my Bonvoy status after 259 days of really poor experiences at Marriott properties.

This hotel is good for a few days but it has been a disappointing experience as a long-term guest. There is only one front desk member that seems to care about their job or a guests experience, the others look at you with bored disinterest and speak to you like you are bothering them when you ask a question. When I spoke to the the front desk about how uncomfortable the bed is (it's truly forced me to go to the chiropractor) they said they do not have any mattresses to replace the one in my room, so they would need me to change rooms. That's very inconvenient when I have essentially moved in 3 months worth of stuff to due to my long-term work assignment in the area. I came up with a solution to use the large comforter as a mattress pad which has helped, but now that it's 40 degrees out, I need the comforter for warmth, so I called the desk to ask for a second comforter, and they stated they cannot give me a second comforter because they don't have any. What kind of hotel, especially one that presents themselves as an upper crust hotel, does not have extra comforters? The laundry room is outdated and even 90 minutes of dryer time will not fully dry one load of clothes. On top of this, the day in and day out have having to search for parking in the parking garage, and getting trapped in the parking garage for 15 to 20 minutes when there a events being hosted makes this an incredibly inconvenient place for a person on a tight schedule. I have stayed 259 nights with Marriott this year and have found this to be the case for their hotel brand as a whole. There is no uniformity among the Marriott brand. I will be re-thinking my Bonvoy status.

Great location, helpful staff and rooms are spacious and clean. Bed could probably use a swap out but im picky about beds. Rooftop bar is beautiful, makes great drinks and staff is friendly. Cafe downstairs is awesome, great drinks and food items are fresh. Parking is a bit nuts at times due to a lot of event locations in close proximity but they do keep hotel spots separated.

The ONLY reason I gave three stars is the terrible shower. Staff was terrific. Room was great. Bed was comfy. The shower is an abomination. Big? Yes. Good water pressure? Yes. BUT There is no door on the shower and the water. Goes. Everywhere. Before you're even in it! That's how bad the design is. It sounds like this is the new standard for Marriott branded hotels and honestly, if that's true, it's Hilton time. A good hot shower factors highly in hotel choice. In this one, you get to be cold, then nearly break a leg getting out, then use every towel available on the tile floor your entire stay. Please, Marriott, fix it.

My friend and I stayed at the Residence Inn in downtown Raleigh when in town for a show. The location is convenient to the downtown Raleigh area and all it has to offer. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious with a living room area and full kitchen including a full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, and microwave. It was clean with comfortable bedding and pillows. Our stay was relaxing and quiet. There is also a rooftop restaurant/bar which was nice and convenient. Great place to have dinner or drinks and watch the sunset. My only critique would be that the guest wifi was extremely weak in our room which was not horrible but inconvenient at times. All in all a nice reprieve.

Reservation canceled without my permission and not reinstated. I had reserved a room for an upcoming event. The event got canceled due to the fire at the convention center. The reservation that I had made did not have a cancellation option because I was trying to save the $40. For an expensive room I felt like any savings was good. I called in to inquire about any type of credit and transfer of date of room due to the cancellation of the event and was told that was not possible. The employee told me to keep my reservation in case I change my mind and wanted to come or in case there was special circumstances given to give me a credit and to call back the next day. My understanding that it was left this way. I spoke to several different Marriott employees regarding a possible credit or partial credit and was told no that it was policy and I totally understood that part but was planning on still using the night and just driving to Raleigh for the heck of it to feel like I did not lose out on my rental. Somehow in the middle of all of these conversations the reservation was canceled and so my option of still using my prepaid night was taken from me. I spoke to several people at the hotel and at the main customer care center with Bonvoy Marriott and no one was able to reinstate or book me a night as a courtesy for their mistake. They each just wanted to blame the other. Unfortunately I believe their establishment has lost the sense of being personal. And they definitely could not acknowledge their mistakes. I don't travel often but will be avoiding Marriott in the future.
