The Emily Morgan San Antonio - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel

Pretty cool hotel. Rooms are outdated as most state but not terrible. The bellman was phenomenal. So friendly and accommodating! I wish I had gotten his name but he did say he has been there for 24 years! We did have to have bedding changed on one of the beds due to stains but the housekeeping attendant was extremely nice and very apologetic. She even provided us with coupons for the breakfast buffet. Front desk check in was just ok. Room service was a joke. We called to have 2 drinks and a piece of cake brought up and was told it was busy so may take about 30 minutes...which we were ok with. Over an hour later we decided to call and cancel...we were tired of waiting. They apparently couldn't remember what room it needed to go to and tried to deliver to 2 other rooms. Mostly frustrating because we were celebrating my nephew who turned 5 and he was waiting so patiently for his cake. Breakfast buffet was not bad...lots of options. Hotel was very quite, no problem with noise. The location is really great! We had a great view of the Alamo on the 11th floor! Everything was in walking distance so that was a big plus! I would stay again if I had to mostly for the location. And I was pleased that we didn't have any ghostly visitors....although others in my group were disappointed. Haha!

Getting the room verified and checked in were the main issues, but once resolved our stay was excellent. Just what you’d expect from a historic hotel with a few upgrades. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating considering the circumstances. Loved being able to explore the hotel and the bar is great. Having a great view of the Alamo was interesting if you like the historical essence of San Antonio. Extremely convenient location and we will definitely be coming back in the future!!

Fantastic value and a must if interested in visiting the Alamo as it's the closest hotel to the historic fortress. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the rooms were nice. We had a view of the Alamo and it was picture perfect! The only downside is the bathrooms were a little weird layout wise. I wouldn't recommend staying in one of these rooms with anyone but your spouse as there is very little privacy. Other than that the rooms were very clean and modern and the hotel itself has an illustrious history that history lovers and paranormal experience seekers will thoroughly enjoy. I recommend staying on the 7th floor which used to be a psych ward in a hospital if you are into the paranormal. Fantastic hotel bar (when open) that has some great happy hour specials. I would certainly stay here again and am happy that Hilton owns a hotel of this magnitude.

Positive: It is such a beautiful hotel! The staff was so courteous & helpful. The view from my 7th floor room was amazing! I cannot wait to stay there again. Negative: I wish they would have stated on the website that the pool was closed due to maintenance. There was no water in it. It was 101 degrees that day & I was looking so forward to cooling off in the pool.

Hotel is fine and well positioned right across from the Alamo and close to the Riverwalk. Easy walk to the convention center too. Staff are all very friendly. Rooms are hit or miss, a little dated and sometimes questionable for hot water, electricity always working and HVAC functioning properly. Not a true DoubleTree with the hotel canteen. Breakfast at onsite restaurant is fine, but limited servers to support so be patient. Dinner at the bar/restaurant is better. Servers are wonderful and despite the limited menu there are some great options to be enjoyed. The Alamo construction starts early so be prepared for some noise. Pool was closed and fitness area is small, but not horrible. If you dont like ghost stories you may want to Google the building before booking.

We reserved a king room, and it happened to the on the 14th floor. The location, view, and historical context are great. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful. However, the room did not meet our expectations: it was dated, needed to be deep cleaned (mold in the shower, dusty), the mattress was not comfortable and the pillows were flat. The last straw for us was when we lost water pressure multiple times when showering. The water would suddenly stop or turn into a trickle. At the price point, we expected a better experience. We stayed one night, found another hotel, and checked out early.

We checked in on Halloween night. Everything from the start with the Valet staff to the front desk was perfect. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. We stayed in room 707 and had the most beautiful view of the Alamo. The room was clean and comfortable. When it came time for checkout the staff went the extra mile to make sure even the end of our stay was amazing. They kindly held our bags and car until 3 o'clock allowing us to enjoy San Antonio a little longer. We will definitely come back.
