⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Stay – True Southern Hospitality We had an absolutely wonderful experience at The Cotton Sail Hotel in Savannah. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of historic charm. The exposed brick, the river views, and the rooftop vibe create a perfect blend of classic Savannah character with modern comfort. A very special thank you to Chelsea for upgrading our room — that truly made our stay unforgettable. The upgraded room was spacious, beautifully designed, and the view of the Savannah River was incredible. Waking up to that scenery felt like a gift. The location is perfect — right in the heart of everything. You can step outside and immediately enjoy River Street, restaurants, shops, and the unique energy that makes Savannah so special. Customer service was top-notch, the hotel was clean and well maintained, and the overall experience felt personal and elevated.
We were so excited to have the chance to stay in a converted building that in the past was a sail manufacturing business. The staff was helpful, especially the men working as valets; the location was wonderful. However, the advertised balcony was not one on which you could sit. Being only about 18", there was not room for a chair, let alone two chairs. The shower was not so pleasant as it took many minutes to warm up. No Hot water in the shower.
My husband and I had a wonderful vacation staying at the Cotton Sail Hotel! I originally booked a room at this hotel because I could get a Riverfront room that was about half the price of other hotels on the river. I read other reviews, and saw that the rooms don't have refrigerators so we made sure to bring a Yeti cooler that worked wonderfully. The rooms are a little small but well appointment. The location is great! The Staff was amazing! I loved that I received texts everyday inquiring about our stay. My husband and I will definitely stay here again.
Positive: Location Negative: River view very limited, room needs painting
First off, some of the reviews in regard to staff are way off base from our experience! Absolutely delightful team from housekeeping to reception to guest services. Location is great. In regards to the floor complaints of many, this is a historic building and the polyurethane coating to preserve the hard wood can feel sticky and dirty. It wasn’t a concern to us. Important to understand noise travels through the floors given the historic structure. That can be frustrating especially when most people are unaware and inconsiderate of their presence these days. But again, managing expectations, that is to be expected if you want to stay in a piece of history. All in all, happy with our stay.
While the room was beautiful and the view and balcony of room 305 was stunning, I provided 3 stars due to lack of service. The first id like to mention is charging $45/night for valet parking of hotel guests. With the little to no parking as is, the value is overpriced, with as much as we are paying for a room. Again, the room was beautiful. We woke up early Saturday and hit the town, no issues. Sunday we decided we'd sleep in, take our time getting ready, before check out. Unfortunately we were unable to sleep in and scurried to check out due to the amount of huge palmetto bugs crawling throughout our room. It was absolutely terrifying. Upon notating to the front desk of the issues, the response we received was "well we exterminate every month." While I do understand the actions are being taken to reduce creatures, their response wasn't settling. Therefore, we will not be returning to Cotton Sail on our next trip to Savannah.
We arrived for our first visit to Savannah, a beautiful city and we're sure to return but will never stay at this hotel again. As soon as we walking into our small room on the 3rd floor over looking the river, we noticed a very musty smell. Our feet stuck to the dark wood floors making an awful racket when walking. The room was incredibly dark. Drawers would not stay shut - we had to put the chair in front of the dresser to keep the drawers from sliding open. The bathroom was dingy although towels were clean and fresh toiletries were present. It does have a hairdryer, that could use a wipe down and iron/board. Also safe in the small closet. The roof top bar was just okay. I would not recommend this hotel.
