Location was great and the staff was friendly and helpful. Took a while to find the concierge but she was also helpful. We had a room with an adjoining door to another room which was not well insulated from noise so we were able to hear the conversation next door. However otherwise the room was well appointed and clean. We had a patio which would’ve been nice if the weather had cooperated. Beds were very high so a little leap was necessary to get on/in. But once in they were very comfortable. Plenty of differing softness pillows. The bathroom did not have grab bars in the bath which made it a little tricky to take a shower. Water pressure was great and the bath soaps, etc., were fragrant.
My friend and I stayed here for 3 days this past weekend. I called the week before to ask if the pool would be open. I was told it would be. The lady I spoke with said it was closed the week I had called but it would be back open the week we arrive. It unfortunately was not. They have valet parking. The hotel itself is in the perfect location. You are a 5-10 minute walk from everything. We were given a $23 voucher (each of us) to use in the hotel bar or cafe. We decided to use it in the hotel bar for food. The food was not good. I’m glad it was free! I got the mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce and the pimento cheese with crackers. The mozzarella sticks didn’t have any taste and the marina sauce was bland. The crackers were hard and the pimento cheese was pretty much shredded cheese. We were not a fan of the food at the cafe either. I had an iced vanilla latte one morning and an iced honey bee latte the next morning. They were average. I also had the Madison breakfast sandwich, it was missing something. It needed some sort of sauce or seasoning. Everything was bland. The valet area will store your luggage if you need to check out and have a while before your flight leaves. They valet staff were very friendly. The room itself was clean. The beds were very comfortable. I am very pleased with our room and beds/pillows. We didn’t have a fridge in our room. Not sure if that’s all rooms or just ours. Overall, it is a nice hotel in a great location. I would like to come back again during the summer. All of the staff were very friendly and hopeful. Our only complaints are the food quality and the pool nkt being open. Otherwise it was great!
As I write this, I am finishing my last nights stay here. This is our fourth night and the city is loud. That was expected. The neighbors playing music and being discourteous was unexpected. There was a thumping bass beat that was more felt than heard. I questioned the management about if it was a local club. They stated no club on this side of the street and there is a noise ordinance at 10:00. They then offered to send up earplugs. Earplugs?!? Really?!? That is as far as your customer service goes? If it continues please let them know. I put on my noise cancelling headphones, but when the battery died 3 hours later, I asked them to step in again. Crickets from management. I finally pounded on the wall. That got them to quiet down some. Let’s add some other detail to the room… The balcony, which I was excited to use on New Years Eve, was screwed shut. The slider, that used to be the door, was drafty and made it so we had to set the thermostat much higher than we would ever set it. The room was old, run down and not on par with a four star hotel. They gave us a coupon upon arrival for $23.00 and more $10.00 coupons for not having daily room service that we were told could be used on property, but weren’t able to be used at the restaurant. So what good are these?!? The coffee shop would take them, but was out of hot chocolate the entire time we stayed. We left without using most of them. A couple of positives, the doormen were all friendly and offered assistance within the best of their abilities. The location within the historic district is nice as almost everything is within walking distance. However, those two positives, do not make up for a lost nights sleep. We will be back to Savannah, but not to this hotel, even if it’s the last place with rooms.
My husband and I spent one night at the DeSoto and were very happy with the service! The hotel was beautiful, clean, and decorated with Christmas trees through out. The bed was comfortable and the room spotless. The check in process was easy too. We grabbed coffee at the coffee bar downstairs which was very good. The valet was very convenient and the personnel working the valet were fast and friendly! (Thank you Gary!). We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others.
A charming hotel with a boutique vibe. Centrally located it made for a lovely walk to the river front, parks, restaurants and historical sites. The service was true southern hospitality through and through. For our first visit to Savannah we could not have asked for more. My only suggestion, if you are tall request a larger shower or bath, if available :))
We thought the hotel was very nice upon arrival. The location was central to downtown, which made getting around very convenient. The room was clean and had everything we needed, although it did not include a mini fridge. The bed was very comfortable. The room and hallways were quite dark, and there was a strange odor in the hallway.||When we needed assistance, hotel management was easy to reach and very responsive. The towel rack in the bathroom broke, and maintenance came right away to fix it.||Our only real complaint was that the walls were very thin. We were woken up at 6:30 a.m. by a screaming child, which was disruptive.
Hotel is ok. Not great. Cassandra at the front desk and Charlie at valet were great with excellent customer service. Rooms themselves are cramped, old, and in severe need of updates. They are not cleaned well either. It took over an hour to place a one drink order at Provisions and the bartender was very unwelcoming. We wanted to use the gym but were disappointed at the lack of equipment and shocked at how dirty it was. Very gross. Also note there is no room service. We will not be staying at the property again. Highly recommend reserving elsewhere.
